These rare engravings are from the multi-volume work entitled Teatro Araldico, by Luigi Tettoni and F. Saladini, published in Milan from 1841-1850. This “Theater of Arms” is subtitled – a “general collection of arms and insignia of the most noble and illustrious noble families that there is a time and still flourish throughout Italy.” The fine hand-illuminated plates feature original color and show the importance placed on heraldry in European history. This rare work is often listed among genealogical references and is held in high esteem for its accuracy. The engravings are on fine woven paper that measures ~10.5″ x 8″.
